ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Mission Hospital is set to begin blasting rock for their new hospital for advanced medicine on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.

The current design and schedule for the $400 million project calls for approximately 36 days of blasts—one blast per day, up to five days per week over a nine-week period. Every blast will occur precisely at 1:30 p.m. with audible warning signals starting 10 minutes prior to any detonation…

Blasting begins Tuesday for planned $400M Mission facility

Rock blasting is scheduled to begin Tuesday for Mission Health’s planned $400 million hospital for advanced medicine.

The new building will be located at 509 Biltmore Ave.

An audible blast will occur at 1:30 p.m., said Mission Health officials in a prepared statement. That explosion will be the first of 36 that Mission officials expect to occur for about nine weeks…
